Great face and body sunscreen, 6 Sept. 2015
Really nice sunscreen (Factor 30), great value and it absorbs quickly and well with no white residue. I am very impressed by this broad sunscreen - it can be used on the face and body. I often feel a bit reticent to use a sunscreen on my face unless it is a dedicated "face" one, usually from a high end make up brand but I felt that this was very similar to those and it was fine - it slipped on easily. The cream comes out of the tube white but rubs in to a clear finish with a little hint of the "titanium dioxide" sparkle. I have sensitive skin and had no reactions and the cream was quite moist but greasy and not drying. It had no fragrance as such, just a very subtle but clean smell. It really is a great all rounder and good for coming into Autumn when a factor 50 is not required.

Great idea to combat skin cancers, 7 Sept. 2015
What a great idea - an effective suncream marketed without puff and adverts at a very reasonable price - currently at Amazon just £8 for 2 x 200ml tubes of Altruist sunscreen. It has been developed by a skin cancer specialist to encourage people to use sunscreen liberally - the prices charged by many of the named brands are a barrier to that. This cream is Factor 30 and I am reassured that it gives both UVA and UVB protection. The cream rubs in quickly, there is virtually no smell, and an initial slight stickiness soon goes. It has not caused any allergy problems for my wife and I using it on our face or body, and we look forward to really testing its efficacy on the next holiday - the English summer has not provided a true suncream challenge recently!

Online claims not quite borne out by packaging - pleasant to use but scant information supplied., 16 Sept. 2015

A decent basic sunscreen that offers reasonable protection for the price

This has an interesting background that isn't quite borne out by the packaging. It's claimed to be the brainchild of a UK dermatologist, Dr Andrew Birnie, who wanted to produce high quality affordable skincare but the information on the label is a bit of a mismatch, being clearly written by a not native English speaker.

Taking the claims at face value , as a consultant dermatologist, Dr Andrew Birnie must have seen the damaging effects of the sun on

unprotected skin. The generally high price of sun protection creams and consequent unaffordability no doubt led to some of this damage.

I am a long term user of sun protection, despite living in a rather sunless NE England and being a native of an even rainer South Wales.

My own mother had flawless skin that became heavily wrinkled due to sun exposure in later life and I am really anxious to avoid the same fate.

Generally I use Aldi...
