It can even shorten the length of time your cold sore lasts and the amount of time it takes to heal. There are no chemicals involved or creams/ointments to apply. This is a medical device developed, made and tested in Germany which has been designed to prevent the development and advancement of the herpes simplex infection. How the Herpotherm® works: The device works by means of a concentrated heat source of between 50-51°c. This prevents the herpes simplex virus from reproducing.

I've reviewed a few things for amazon over the years but this is the first time I've been moved to review something less than three hours after receiving it. If you're a cold sore sufferer you don't need telling about how miserable they are. I already had a full blown sore when I ordered this, a big, nasty one that was disfiguring my mouth and had made the glands in my neck swell too. I used this as soon as it arrived and it really is quite astonishing. The sore is drying up and shrinking after one use, it's at least half the size and that horrible gooey blister I woke up with is now a drying, small scab. This rate of healing I normally expect to take at least three days, even with a cream. I can't believe how well it works, worth every penny. To use, it is mildly uncomfortable for a few seconds, but who cares if it heals these awful things up so quickly? It isn't painful, just a brief sensation of heat on the skin. I haven't tried it on a tingle stage sore of course, but if it heals...

I'm not a shill and have no axe to grind for or against any particular product. I have, however, suffered from cold sores with depressing regularity for the last ten years or so. The very worst was a period of about six months where they would be arriving every three weeks. Ie: perhaps five days of clear skin between the old one healing and the new arriving. That's often enough to turn your thoughts towards some very dark places indeed. I've tried EVERYTHING virulite, zovirax cream, releev, aciclovir pills, L Lysine. With the exception of the pills, which sped up the healing time, nothing else offered a noticable difference. I was beyond desperate when I bought this machine, with no real thought beyond "It probably won't work, it's off the internet, most things are a scam, but I'm dying here and I'll try ANYTHING."
Well, they say no pain, no gain, and the old saw proves true. This thing - for four seconds - hurts like hell. It doesn't permanently burn the skin, but it...

I was plagued by cold sores for about a year and a half - as soon as one healed up another appeared - every other week.
I tired every non-prescription remedy, and did find a solution. I have no cold sores anymore. Here is a list of things that work and that don't. Obviously, Herpotherm is one of the remedies I tired, hence the review on this page.
1. Aciclovir (Zovirax). Simply does not work. Expensive, but does not prevent the cold sore, or make the healing process quicker. On application cold sores last about 10 days, and go through every stage, from blister, to weeping wound, to scab etc. Waste of time and money.
2. Herpotherm. I had high hopes for it when ordered last Christmas, and I have very mixed feelings. As my cold sores arrived as regular trains according to schedule, I was able to use Herpotherm before the sores appeared. Sometimes it did succeed to delay the cold sore appearing, but they appeared nevertheless. One time it made the cold...
