As a lot of reviewers had pointed out there used to be an excellent buffing cream years ago that seemed to just disappear off the shelves. This product is a good as that one was and I came across it by accident looking on here and after reading the other reviews purchased a pot! It gives a glass like shine to your nails they look like Ive got clear polish on. I used with a Cosmopolitan buffer which has 4 sides 3 for removing ridges, and general smoothing of the nails and a final side for polishing upto the shine however after one use this side is showing wear already. So Ive reverted to how I used to do my nails many years ago by purchasing a chamois one for buffing to a shine as my nails in the past with the old cream and a leather buffer always looked smooth, shiny and were very strong with less breakage. So definately recommend this product should last for ages as well.

At last, something which works, 30 April 2012

My Mum has been talking for as long as I can remember about a product called Carnate and how wonderful it was for one's nails. It turns out that this is more or less the same thing so I ordered a couple of jars on a whim. I have been very impressed by it. My nails are usually in very poor condition but products which are supposed to stop peeling and flaking only seemed to make matters worse. Wearing nail varnish to cover things up didn't help either. Massaging a little of this product into the nails and then buffing gently leaves a lovely shine to the nail which gives the appearance of wearing colourless varnish. I have only been using it for a month or so [you don't need to use it every day] but I am already seeing a difference. A little goes a very long way so it's a very economical way of improving your nails. It smells rather good too.

Perfect, little pot of gold...., 17 Aug. 2014

After reading the reviews, I'm so pleased that I went with the positive ones! I decided to use my Cosmopolitan 4-way buffer first - something that I have been using for sometime anyway - and then used the buff and shine. I took a tip from one of the other reviewers and rubbed a little on to each nail and then rubbed against the other hand until it got warm, then finished off with a cloth to buff - the results - nails so shiny and glossy that they do indeed look polished. This I did yesterday and since then I have washed up, washed my hands several times and they still look lovely! Couldn't be more thrilled, will buy again in case they stop making it!!
