Aqua slander, 4 Mar. 2014

Anyone who thinks this liquid smells like the original wonderful/gorgeous/orangey/inimitable/sharp and sexy Aqua Manda can't possibly have been there in the early 70s and used the real thing! I was so excited before Christmas to learn the "original" had been "painstakingly recreated" with the original founder, expert perfumiers etc etc. Spent £55 on two purse sprays online from the makers - obviously in good faith - for my middle sister and me, children of that era. WHAT A LET-DOWN. Cannot believe this product has the nerve to bear the hallowed name of Aqua Manda. My orange washing-up liquid from the Co-Op smells more like real Aqua Manda than this re-creation.

2014 "Aqua Manda" has none of the mouth-watering and edgy citrus kick that was its hallmark; it's fuzzy, sickly, sweet, powdery and wussy - the sort of thing you might find as a draw prize at a whist drive. A bit like having to drink a pint of warm Fosters instead of an ice-cool Grolsch...

I distinctly remember the original Aqua Manda - that fresh zingy orange fragrance. Very light and pretty. Just the name and the memory of the original Aqua Manda sum up my whole growing up years - But to me, this new version is nothing like it - it's horrible. I'm very disappointed. The packaging is very similar, but the smell is completely different.The firm who produce this new version say that the originator has given his approval for the fragrance, but as far as I know he hasn't actually said it's the original smell.Believe me - it's not.The firm are proud that over 40,000 people have purchased it - but what era are these new customers from ? Do they remember the original ?To me this is a light fragrance, but nothing like what Aqua Manda should smell like. If someone had squirted this on me and not told me what it was, I never would have said it was Aqua Manda.Huge regret.

Couldn't agree more with the previous reviewer. This is NOTHING like the original, how could the manufacturers ever think so? It's very powdery and feeble. If you're looking for Aqua Manda, this is not it!
