First was faulty, second is pretty good., 15 Sept. 2014
This brush is utter rubbish! I have the expert face brush which is fantastic. This however, is the worst design ever! So, yes, it retracts - but there's no mechanism, it just slides which means it doesn't stay retracted. To add to this the lid doesn't push on, or click on or anything - it just falls off - every time. Absolutely useless. I retract it, pop the lid on, the lid falls off, the brush becomes exposed - definitely returning this and will buy a different brand. They certainly do some good brushes but this isn't one of them.Edit: took this back and they opened the others they had in stock and it seems I was unlucky enough to have received a faulty one. The lid now stays in place and the design is practical when it works as intended. It is useful but the brush is nothing very special. I'd like a slightly fuller brush as this is very fine.

Brilliant brush, bad design., 8 Oct. 2014
I love the realtechniques brushes, but the lips brush, although fantastic as a brush, is a crappy design. The lid falls off constantly, it doesn't stay retracted, falls down all the time. Not very good as a "travel brush" as it's advertised, only useful as an everyday brush that's stays with your normal, everyday make up brushes.

Disappointing, 1 Aug. 2015
On the positive side, this lip brush has a good shape and is exactly the right mix of soft and firm to apply my lipstick evenly and accurately. However, the first time I used it, at least a dozen hairs came out, which meant I had to keep swiping it with a tissue to remove those that hadn't already stuck to my lip or fallen on my dressing table. I thought perhaps it was just the loose ones you sometimes get with a new brush and that it would settle down. However, when I used it again even more hairs came out, which is really annoying. Also, the more that come out the looser the remaining ones will become, so I fully anticipate that it will actually become unusable after 3 or 4 applications. It wasn't hugely expensive, but neither was it the cheapest available, so this is very disappointing, because regardless of the cost it looks like it was a waste of money.
