Worth Looking at the Other Remington Models, 8 April 2014

I have used Remington shavers for many years, and I am currently using a Remington 7150 Black Diamond X Rotary. In appearance this razor is very similar to the 7150, and the shape and feel of it is not dissimilar to the model I am used to. However, there are differences and they are to the detriment of this model. Firstly this razor feels and looks more plasticky than the 7150, partly because the weight is significantly less at 5.7 ounces rather than 7.5 ounces and additionally because the operating button is made of cheap looking chrome. This model also lacks the minutes left facility, which is particularly useful when travelling to make sure you are not leaving home with a razor which is going to run out of charge shortly. Neither does it have a travel pouch, which, again, the 7150 does.

However, what I am principally interested in personally, is not the appearance, feel or sound quality of a razor, but purely and simply the quality of shave. Here it is hard to fault...

Does the job well, 28 Feb. 2014

Previously, I was using the Philips SensoTouch 2D. This Remington shaver fits nicely into the hand and navigates the facial contours well. I am happy with the closeness of the shave. The instructions are in English, which makes a nice change from pictograms. There is a natty integrated slip-up beard trimmer which is really effective.I find this an advantage over my Philips, which requires a change of head to trim sideburns and beard. The Remington model I have, the PR1270, can be used cordlessly which, coupled with the integrated beard trimmer will make it a useful travelling shaver. (Model PR1250 can ONLY be used corded.) Unlike some of the Philips models, this cannot be used wet and dry such as in the shower or with soap and water. The only part of the shaver you can rinse under the tap is the very top of the head which detaches.It's fine for the colour blind since the (green)light flashes when charging and goes out when charged. Excellent performance and battery life, 10 Mar. 2014

This has given me a very close shave, even two weeks after charging the battery. Battery life between charges is excellent (2 weeks plus for me, but it will depend on how long you spend charging each day).I have previously used Phillips shavers, which also have rotary heads. The difference is that on the Phillips shavers I have used each head moves independently whereas on this one the three heads are fixed into a plate that can move as one unit. But this system seems to work just as well.It is useful that you can use this model from the mains if the battery is low. It means you can still shave if you realise in the morning that you should have put it on charge. But being cordless would make this a good travel shaver, in case you don’t have a mirror with a power socket nearby in your hotel.
